Suggestions for enjoying artisan breads...

Inspired by the foods of Italy, we use our breads in ways that are very different from the traditional American sandwich.

What can you do with the fragrant, exotic rosemary bread? More than you might imagine.... And the basil? No need to buy basil for garnish, it's baked right into the loaf.... Tired of the same old grilled-cheese sandwich? Try it panini-style on our garlic sourdough.

Breakfast toasts, Italian-style panini, crostini, bruschetta, simple snacks and more traditional American fare, our breads may be enjoyed in all these ways and more.

Basil

This loaf makes a beautiful hot or cold roast beef, pork, or even bacon panini with goat cheese and/or gorgonzola and some lovely greens. Try a little fresh cilantro, or watercress and sliced cucumber.

Bleu Cheese and Walnut

Enjoy freshly-sliced or lightly-toasted, with nearly any berry-type jam or preserves (red currant, black cherry, etc.), or cream cheeses.

Garlic

Wonderful freshly-sliced, or toasted lightly and dipped in olive oil. Also makes great panini. Brush lightly inside and out with olive oil and layer with thin slices of Italian salami, such as sopressato, add some goat or gorgonzola cheese, mixed greens and some fresh basil. Makes a great grilled cheese sandwich.

Honey Whole Wheat

A flavorful all-around sandwich or munching bread, toasted or freshly-sliced.

Italian Durum

At its freshest, enjoy as is or lightly toasted. Because of its water content, the durum has a very short shelf life, although it freezes and refreshes in the oven beautifully. For dipping, try some olive oil sprinkled with grated parmegianno reggiano and minced or pressed garlic. Other compatible toppings are goat cheese and slow-roasted tomatoes for a wonderful bruschetta, or even soft-boiled or poached eggs with fresh-cracked pepper and sea salt. Butter is not a good match for this bread.

Maize

Another wonderfully versatile sandwich and breakfast bread. Poached or soft-boiled eggs, jams, apple and pear butters, tomatoes and basil.

Rosemary

Surprisingly compatible with all kinds of jellies and preserves (apple or blackberry) and fruit butters (apple or pear). Try a hot panini sandwich with roast beef, pork, or bacon with goat cheese, or a good hard cheddar and good quality mustard.

Whole Grain Honey

A moist, chewy, versatile bread. Good as a simple snack, freshly-sliced, or for roast beef, pork, bacon and  lettuce sandwiches.
